...and more was done

The IKEA LACK shelf has been installed and let me tell you that was NOT quick nor easy. (More details in a later post.) I made my first two soft trees! Patterns and instructions here courtesy of Little Birds. The adorable deer ornament was made by my friend Lisa's father a few years before he passed away. I am honored that I own one of his handmade ornaments. I started on the first of my homemade holiday presents. I am SO running out of time though. Here's a pic of my fabric stash for these. I cut out the pieces for my sewing machine cover after purchasing a leather/denim needle to sew the vinyl. The project is so easy and the instructions are here.

Getting some work done.

I decided to take some time off this week because I cannot take any extra time off during Christmas week. So I decided to have some fun, check out some shops and galleries in Richmond that I never been able to see, go to some movies in the afternoon always fun, and of course, get some of my many projects done. Today: Draft stoppers! I have a 10 foot tall ceiling in my bedroom and a near-13 foot ceiling in the living/dining room. The bedroom stays cozy because the landlord had all the 6 foot tall casement windows in the building weatherized last year. Unfortunately, I am in one of the two apartments with balcony doors and the expense to order new hardware for them was probably not worth it. Especially since we tenants pay for our own heat (electric). Therefore, I had to do something, the drafty doors are directly across from the front door which has a floor gap of almost an inch. Well, not any more! Ta Da!! And for the balcony doors: Both draft stoppers were made from an old bathroom towel filled with white aquarium stones. I covered the one for the front door with an outer sleeve of the fabric I bought last week. The one for the balcony I have decided to keep basic since the door will eventually be sealed with plastic for the season once we stop having our freak "warm & beautiful" days. NEXT: Sewing machine cover and sofa bolster pillow(s)

Come and see my new desk..

What, you don't see it? Well, neither do I.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I've been having a problem getting a simple $80 IKEA desk delivered. They have now lost my order THREE times.

What kills me is I received a delivery date of Dec 1 and three separate order numbers and they have no record of them. Don't order numbers usually go in sequence? So where did mine go and why didn't anyone notice? And shouldn't orders just disappearing be a bigger worry to them?

I guess not, because it did not seem to worry the helpful associate who informed me that my order just wasn't there anymore. To make it even better, she actually said... get this...that putting in those three order numbers and finding nothing was all they could do. Then she asked me who I had spoken to when I made these orders. How would knowing that help me anymore than what information I had already given them? Those people might lose their holiday bonuses or their jobs but what could they do for ME without knowing their names? If I hadn't been so exhausted and I wasn't sitting at an open cubicle at work, I would have come out of this with some kind of great discount or free merch, but I just couldn't bother.

It's not like they don't owe me. I ordered this desk in September and my orders have been deleted from their system THREE TIMES! I mean, what is going on there?

Note: I still haven't given up on this though. I went and ordered the desk again through their website. Why? Because any order through their website comes with an emailed receipt. Let's see them talk themselves out of that!
